Upload CSV files to import person or account info as a Source for use in Journeys

The universal CSV format helps move info from various Tapistro sources into the GTM flow.

Updated over a week ago

From any private sources or legacy systems, you can bring in your data into Tapistro to enrich your lead generation and do outreach.

For all import and export purposes, we support CSV format. You can import people or company information and use it as signal data. After ingesting it into Tapistro, you use this data in your GTM workflows and journeys.

Note: The CSV data that you upload must contain a company name, a domain name, or a work email ID for each row. If any of this information is available, the CSV upload is successful and processed. If information about either a person or an account isn't available in the CSV file, then the upload isn't usable.

How to upload CSV files as a Source

As CSV files are used as a source of information, it is uploaded to a Source. To create a CSV-based Source, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Tapistro account and click Sources in the left sidebar.

  2. In the upper-right corner, click New Source.

  3. Enter a meaningful name.

  4. In the Origin Type field, select CSV File. Click Upload CSV File.

  5. Verify and accept the auto-generated field mappings or create your own field mappings.

  6. Click Preview Mappings to view the default field mappings of the uploaded CSV data.

  7. In the same UI, in the User Mappings section, modify the default field mappings, if needed. If Tapistro identifies that the CSV data contains account-related information, the mappings are available in the Account section. If the data is person-specific, then the mappings are available in the Person section.

  8. After you've verified and edited the mappings, click Validate.

  9. In the Review & Approve step, verify the mapping details and click Approve & Complete.

Use the CSV data for outreach

You use the Source containing your CSV data in a Journey to facilitate outreach based on the person or account details in the CSV file.

To refine the CSV data, you can use the Journey step called Data Filter. Using expressions based on your specific preferences, the step filters the information from an imported CSV. You can also use the data with external services to clean it or refine it. For example, you can filter and segment a list for niche targeting via Sales representatives, outbound tools, or LinkedIn channels.

Also, you can upload a new CSV file with a different set of data to refresh the Source. Use this tip to use the same logic in a Journey but with a different set of intent data. For example, run the same Journey to do similar outreach but with a different quarterly dataset.
